Yenze Theatre Conservatoire

In March of 2021, I embarked upon a journey with dear friend and fellow artist, Aganza Kisaka. The Yenze Theatre Conservatoire was launched in Kampala Uganda, with an 8-week Intensive Acting class focusing on the instrument of the performer. The educational goals for this course are actor awareness and preparedness, professionalism, and the intentional pursuit of truth in all performance opportunities in Uganda.

As of 2022, YTC is in the preparatory stages of it’s second 8-week Acting intensive, featuring carefully tested and curated course material, as well as engaging collaborations which will enrich the learning process.

In the pipeline are annual showcases, short, site-specific inter-arts-disciplinary projects, and additional classes for the hungry performance professional in Uganda.

Martin Behrman Charter School

Following the acquisition of my MFA (Acting) from LSU, I worked for a year as a Theatre and Dance Teacher in Algiers Charter School Association, serving on their preparatory middle school campus. I was the Primary Theater Arts and Educational Dance instructor for K-8 students. Responsibilities included curriculum development, Lesson Planning, Writing, Directing and Choreographing student-led productions, Opportunity Creation outside school performances, Field trip & exposure coordination, and Parental Engagement.

During my tenure, the students enjoyed school-wide participation in a Christmas Production which I produced, wrote, directed, and choreographed, in collaboration with my fellow Enrichment teachers. I also implemented and spear-headed the Cultural Day Bonanza, a week-long event in which students learnt more about East, West and Southern African culture through dance, as well as African American History through the spoken word. The Bonanza culminated in a two-day production featuring presentations from classes k-12, as well as a school band presentation.
